Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does celebrate the humble leadership of Deacon Ellis McCoy and his contributions to family, friends, church, and community. We say, "Rest now, you good and faithful servant." Job Well Done.

Whereas, Deacon Ellis McCoy was born to Erving McCoy, Sr. and Susan Lessane on February 13th, 1929.  He was educated in both the Hill District schools as well as attending Westinghouse High School in the Homewood Community; and
 
Whereas, upon graduating High School, Deacon McCoy began work immediately, always earning his own way, appreciating the value of the dollar, and saving for his future; and
 
Whereas, Deacon McCoy, a man of God, quietly and humbly giving of himself to assist others.  While on his journey with God, Deacon McCoy met, fell in love with, and married Frances Claire Darkins.  To this union Ellis Junior, Jonathan, Berthorn,Rodney, Angela, Tracy, and Lakeisha were born; and
 
Whereas, Deacon Ellis McCoy not only loved and cared for his immediate family, but also extended his arms and love to the community, always willing to mentor a youth in need.
