Whereas, Brent Johnson served four years in the United States Marine Corps and attended Slippery Rock University before obtaining a Master's in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and principal certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania; and
Whereas, Brent has served as Principal of Greenfield School for the past five years, where under his leadership, the school's enrollment increased and students obtained some of the city's highest test scores and have been recognized for their contributions to community service; and
Whereas, Brent has motivated and influenced students throughout his career, many of whom have excelled in college and the professional arena; and
Whereas, he was instrumental in the establishment of many programs during his tenure at Greenfield School, including the student council, National Honor Beta Club, and the "Gator Greenback" reward program, as well as major renovations of the school building; and
Whereas, after 32 years in the field of education, Brent Johnson will retire on June 30, 2006; and
Title
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Brent Johnson for his retirement from the field of education and his many years of great professional accomplishment; and
Be it further resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 20, 2006 to be "Brent Johnson Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
