Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend The Pittsburgh City Paper for its 25th annual "Best of Pittsburgh Reader's Poll" and a record-breaking year; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 19th, 2017 to be "Pittsburgh City Paper's Best of Pittsburgh Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on November 6, 1991, the Pittsburgh City Paper published its first edition. Since then, the free, award-winning, and bi-weekly publication provides readers with news, arts and entertainment coverage and daily updates on its website, www.pghcitypaper.com.; and,

 

WHEREAS, since 1992, Pittsburgh City Paper has published annually its “Best of Pittsburgh Reader’s Poll,” which grants readers the opportunity to vote for their favorite Pittsburgh businesses, leaders, food, music, places, and more; and,

 

WHEREAS, now in its 25th year, the “Best of Pittsburgh Reader’s Poll” received a record number of responses this year with more than 28,200 City Paper readers participating and more than 162,000 votes cast; and,

 

WHEREAS, the winners and runners-up will be announced in the Wednesday, October 18, 2017 issue of Pittsburgh City Paper. Winners will then be featured at the 2017 Best of Pittsburgh Party on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Ace Hotel at 7:00 p.m.
