WHEREAS, Gerald “Gerry” Kobell has been the Regional Director of Region Six of the National Labor Relations Board and has had a distinguished career spanning 40 years of service to the NLRB; and,
WHEREAS, Gerry Kobell, a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Pennsylvania Law School and NYU where he received an LLM in labor law, began his career with the NLRB in 1967 as a field attorney in the Newark, NJ Regional office He became a Deputy Assistant General Counsel, then Assistant General Council at the NLRB Headquarters in Washington, DC and completed his career with the NLRB in the position of Regional Director of Region Six ; and,
WHEREAS, Gerry Kobell has been an Adjunct Professor of Labor Law at Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh and has been the Past Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association, President of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and Chairman of the Regional Director's Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Gerry Kobell has been named Lawyer of the Year by the Federal Bar Association and awarded the Meritorious Executive Award by President George H. W. Bush; and,
WHEREAS, Gerry Kobell will be retiring as Regional Director of Region Six of the NLRB but will continue to teach at the Law School, will consult and practice law to a limited extent, mediating and arbitrating cases while spending more time with his children and grandchildren, reading and tending to his fish pond.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Gerry Kobell for 25 years as Regional Director of Region Six and a total of 40 years of dedicated service to the National Labor Relations Board and wishes him good health and happiness in the years to come ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, December 8...
