WHEREAS, since 1869, YWCA Greater Pittsburgh has worked to improve the status of women, girls and families and advancing racial justice, tackling issues such as homelessness, childcare needs, disparities in employment, fair housing and civil rights; and,
WHEREAS, YWCA empowers all women to take command of their career, health, education and community involvement effectively throughout their lives and to actively participate in a society free of discrimination, making it a place where every woman can find support services, career development and advancement opportunities as well as health and wellness information that can enable them to move forward toward a successful life; and,
WHEREAS, the YWCA has been recognizing the accomplishments of women in the Pittsburgh community since 1983 through the Annual Tribute to Women Leadership Awards Luncheon; and,
WHEREAS, the 2008 YWCA Tribute to Women Honorees are:
