WHEREAS, Dr. Ruthane Reginella first began her career with Pittsburgh Public Schools in 1971 as a student teacher at Belmar Elementary, and started in 1972 as a teacher at Morningside Elementary School, going on to teach at Arsenal Middle School in 1980; and
WHEREAS, in 1981 Dr. Reginella was promoted to Dean of Students at Arsenal Middle School, moving next to Reizenstein Middle School in 1984 - the more to spread her positive influence; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Reginella became Principal at Arsenal Middle School in 1986, moving on to Knoxville Middle School in 1993, and Prospect Middle School in 1995, and will be concluding her career at Brashear High School, where she has been Principal since 1997; and
WHEREAS, in all those schools and over all those years, Dr. Reginella has been renowned for a strong fist and an open hand, receiving numerous commendations for discipline, organization, school/community relations, and student achievement - it having been stated that "no other dean ever accomplished as much in one semester as she did"; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Reginella maintained a long history of pleasing supervisors, including Superintendents Louise Brennan and Helen Faison, and is known for her ability to listen, to accept constructive criticism, and to find new ways of solving problems; and
WHEREAS, behind every good school is a good administrator, and Dr. Reginella has been that person, who has given her all to the benefit of the Pittsburgh Public Schools and to the betterment of each and every student, and has earned the undying love and respect of those whose lives she has touched;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Ruthane Reginella on her many years of service to the Pittsburgh Public Schools, and wishes her well in her retirement, and declares August 12, 2008, to be Dr. Ruthane Reginella Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
