WHEREAS, the Brookline Little League is one of the most successful athletic programs in the City of Pittsburgh, providing a nurturing experience for aspiring ballplayers since 1951; and
WHEREAS, in 1955 the Brookline Pony Boys' Little League team posted a record of 28-0, in 1964 and 1965 the American Legion Little League posted season records of 20-0 and 19-1, respectively, and in 1998 and 1999 the Poremski Plumbing Little League team went 31-0; and
WHEREAS, all of those records were shattered this year by the Rita's Italian Ice Pinto League Softball Team who completed their second consecutive undefeated season, a feat matched only by the Poremski team; and
WHEREAS, the Rita's Team went an incredible 41-0 over the last two seasons, an absolutely dominating performance in the South Hills Softball League; and
WHEREAS, the 2011 team was made up of Farrah Love, Emma Ely, Kylee Cerminara, Cameryn Davis, Casey Evans, Mia Ely, Zoe Malone, Vanessa Hudson, Caitlyn Guerriero, Mikaela Vogel, and Pam Tomassi; and
WHEREAS, the 2012 team was made up of Vanessa Hudson, Caitlyn Guerriero, Kiara Cerminara, Casey Evans, Allison Krapp, Kendal Kalanish, Cameryn Davis, Emma Ely, Kylee Cerminara, Farrah Love, and Lynsee Wering; and
WHEREAS, the coaching staff for the teams included Sean Malone, Ralph Cerminara, manager Dave Ely, Herb Davis, Greg Guerriero, and batgirl Kiara Cerminara.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh honors the truly legendary performance of the Rita's Italian Ice Pinto League Softball Team on the softball diamond; and
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 2, 2012 to be Rita's Italian Ice Team Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
