Whereas, From Friday, April 11 To Sunday, April 13, 2008 Representatives From The University Of Pittsburgh College Democrats And Carnegie Mellon University Participated In The Pennsylvania College Democrats Conference At Temple University In Philadelphia; And
Whereas, The Pitt College Dems, Under The Guidance Of Their Representatives At The Conference, Lissa Geiger, Jim Sheppard, Ian Lauer, Jana Stec, Matt Spina, And Nikos Giannopoulos, As Well As Over 300 Active Members, Were Named Pennsylvania Chapter Of The Year; And
Whereas, Due To Innovative Programming, Such As The Charity Date Auction, Which Raised Nearly $1,500 For The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, And A Great Relationship With Local, State, And Federal Elected Officials In Pennsylvania, The Pitt College Dems Beat Four Other Universities For The Top Honor; And
Whereas, During The Conference, Two University Of Pittsburgh Students And One Student From Carnegie Mellon University Were Elected By The State Conference To Serve On The Pa College Dems Executive Board. Jim Sheppard Will Serve As Western Vice-President, Jana Stec Will Serve As Political Affairs Director, And Joe Day Will Serve As Finance Director; And

Now Therefore, Be It Resolved, That The Council Of The City Of Pittsburgh Does Hereby Recognize The Tremendous Efforts Of The College Democrats Of Pittsburgh And Southwestern Pennsylvania; And
Be It Further Resolved That The Council Of The City Of Pittsburgh Proclaims That Thursday, April 24th, 2008 Be Hereby Declared As "College Dems Day" In The City Of Pittsburgh.
