Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Pittsburgh City Council salutes the civil rights advocacy campaigns of the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Pridefest Committee; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that June 18, 2005 be declared "Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender Pride Day" in the City of Pittsburgh. WHEREAS, June 18, 2005 marks the annual Pittsburgh Three Rivers Pridefest  (Pridefest), sponsored by the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh (GLCC) and the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Pridefest Committee; and
 
WHEREAS, in its fifth consecutive year, Pittsburgh's Pridefest is a co-celebration with pride celebrations in the month of June throughout the country that commemorate the "Stonewall Riots"--the immergence of the gay liberation movement that began 36 years ago; and  
 
WHEREAS, with the national theme being "Equal Rights--No More, No Less," Pittsburgh's Pridefest will kickoff its daylong activities with its Pride Parade that will march from downtown Pittsburgh to the North Shore's Riverfront Park; and  
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Pridefest Committee will host many events during Pride Month as published in the 2005 Pittsburgh Three Rivers Pridefest Guide; and   
 
WHEREAS, Pridefest is a mission to fight discrimination by fostering an open forum to educate the public on the social, cultural and artistic contributions, issues and orientation of gay, lesbian bisexual, transgender (GLBT) people.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Pittsburgh City Council salutes the civil rights advocacy campaigns of the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Pridefest Committee; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that June 18, 2005 be declared "Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender Pride Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
