WHEREAS, the 45th annual celebration of National Catholic Schools Week (CSW) will be held Sunday, January 27 - February 2, 2019, and,
WHEREAS, the schools of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh play an important role in building faith, developing communities and in promoting service; and,
WHEREAS, Catholic Schools in the City of Pittsburgh place high expectancy upon all teachers to motivate the children to achieve to the best of their ability by seeking academic excellence, moral courage and strong faith, in the light of social and cultural change; and,
WHEREAS, when dedicated teachers base their methods on a love for the Church, they create an atmosphere that is communal and service oriented; and,
WHEREAS, in Catholic schools, educators and students share the qualities of learners, servants and leaders, which is what makes Catholic schools succeed; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Catholic Schools that serve our City residents for teaching students to become future leaders, faith-filled disciples and enriched citizens in our communities; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, January 27 - February 2, 2019 to be “Catholic Schools Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.
