WHEREAS, Allen Place is an organization that provides health and wellness programs for seniors, children, and youth. They serve families for the social, emotional, and educational needs by encouraging healthy development and enhancing the cultural awareness in the broader community; and,
WHEREAS, Allen Place is having a fun-filled and informative celebration called Family Life Center Programs Achieving Health Awareness, Behavioral, and Emotional Strengths through Partnerships Reaching the Organization Mission (PROM) Event; and,
WHEREAS, Allen Place Senior Citizen PROM will connect the participants and program coaches to celebrate their achievement goals of better health. This program captures senior citizens that are aging out of the Allen Place communities with a significant level of institutional care rather than remaining in the home with care resources. In 2017, they celebrated more than 350 participants and hope to have many more this year; and,
WHEREAS, the Allen Place Senior Citizen PROM held a conversation with a panel of speakers on September 8, 2018 to build a culture of health and community. The moderators of this conversation included Joe Gordon, Reverend Jeffrey Thomas, and Reverend Glen Loper. The speakers included Reverend Dr. Judith Mone and Reverend June Jeffries. Lastly, the panelists were Dr. Karen Hack, Dr. Emma Lucas-Darby, Reverend Richard White, Reverend Melva Hartzol, and Bernard J. Fench, III. There was a musical performance by Ms. Char Biggs and the DCI Choir; and,
WHEREAS, Allen Place will honor recipients of designated community service award winners. The Life Time Achievement Award will be presented to Mrs. Saundra Goggins, Mrs. Alethia Hamm, Mrs. Amy Stephenson, Ms. Bernice Brady, and Ms. Beatrice Coleman. The Service Excellence Award will be presented to Mrs. Darlene James. The Humanitarian Award will be presented to Reverend Glen Loper.
