WHEREAS, Darren Morris was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, where his love for family, sports, and community first took root; and,
WHEREAS, Darren pursued higher education at Gambling University, where he proudly played football, demonstrating teamwork and perseverance that would guide him throughout his life; and,
WHEREAS, from 1990 to 1995, Darren dedicated himself to helping others as part of the nonprofit organization House of the Crossroads, providing compassionate support for individuals in drug treatment programs; and,
WHEREAS, Darren’s lifelong commitment to civic engagement was evident in his steadfast participation in every election, his passion for environmental stewardship, and his constant attention to community needs; and,
WHEREAS, Darren devoted three decades of exemplary service to the Port Authority, where he was known for his reliability, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the people he served; and,
WHEREAS, Darren moved to Point Breeze, where he continued his legacy of good deeds and quiet generosity, always there whenever someone needed a helping hand or a listening ear; and,
WHEREAS, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and devoted boyfriend, Darren was family-oriented to his core; and,
WHEREAS, after his father’s passing, he lovingly provided for his mother, taking her on trips and long rides to bring her joy and comfort; and,
WHEREAS, Darren’s sweet spirit, warm heart, and constant readiness to help others made him a cherished presence in the lives of friends, family, and neighbors alike; and,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the life of Darren Morris, commending his lifelong dedication to service, community, and family; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 22, 2025 to be “Darren Morris Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
