WHEREAS, Harry G “Knute” Finnerty was born to John and Ella Finnerty on Wednesday, April 29, 1931 in Carnegie Pennsylvania and celebrates his 90^th Birthday with family and friends; and,

Body

WHEREAS, Mr. Finnerty attended St. Luke’s Grade School and graduated from St. Luke’s High School in 1949; and

WHEREAS, in 1950, Harry was hired by the Pennsylvania Railroad and was soon drafted into the U.S. Army as a member of the 45^th Infantry Division during the Korean War from 1952-1954 where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic service; and,

WHEREAS, after his service to our country, Mr. Finnerty married Patricia Dougherty in 1956 and raised three children together; and,

WHEREAS, Harry retired from the railroad in 1993 after 43 years of service as a Signal Maintainer and member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Finnerty resides with his wife Patricia in Crafton and is the proud Grandfather of 7 children and proud Great-Grandfather of four; and, 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Harry G. “Knute” Finnerty on the milestone of his 90^th Birthday and wish him many more; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Thursday, April 29, 2021 to be “Mr. Harry G. “Knute” Finnerty Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
