WHEREAS, Harry G “Knute” Finnerty was born to John and Ella Finnerty on Wednesday, April 29, 1931 in Carnegie Pennsylvania and celebrates his 90th Birthday with family and friends; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Finnerty attended St. Luke’s Grade School and graduated from St. Luke’s High School in 1949; and
WHEREAS, in 1950, Harry was hired by the Pennsylvania Railroad and was soon drafted into the U.S. Army as a member of the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War from 1952-1954 where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic service; and,
WHEREAS, after his service to our country, Mr. Finnerty married Patricia Dougherty in 1956 and raised three children together; and,
WHEREAS, Harry retired from the railroad in 1993 after 43 years of service as a Signal Maintainer and member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Finnerty resides with his wife Patricia in Crafton and is the proud Grandfather of 7 children and proud Great-Grandfather of four; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Harry G. “Knute” Finnerty on the milestone of his 90th Birthday and wish him many more; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Thursday, April 29, 2021 to be “Mr. Harry G. “Knute” Finnerty Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
