WHEREAS, Deanna Nusser has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the well-being and betterment of her community through extraordinary acts of selfless service for 27 years with the Washington Heights Athletic Association (WHAA); and
WHEREAS, she has dedicated her time and energy to the WHAA, including serving as Vice President of the organization for 20 years, embodying the very best of civic virtue and human kindness; and
WHEREAS, with the assistance of Councilwoman Smith and the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Works, she was instrumental in the rehabilitation and opening of the new shelter at Olympia Park, providing a vital resource for the community; and
WHEREAS, her community involvement extends to her work as a pharmacy technician for 45 years, during which she has tirelessly volunteered at numerous COVID vaccine clinics; and
WHEREAS, she has been a vital part of the annual "Trunk or Treat" event in Mt. Washington since its inception, contributing to the joy and safety of the community's children; and
WHEREAS, in 2021, her exceptional contributions were further recognized when she became the first female recipient of the prestigious Mount Washington Neighbor of the Year award. Her efforts serve as an inspiration to all, proving that the collective strength of a community is built upon the compassionate actions of its individual members; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Deanna Nusser for her contributions to her community and service to the City of Pittsburgh residents; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, September 27, 2025 to be “Deanna Nusser Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
