Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes this outstanding young man, Carl Baumgart, Jr. of Troop 614 and commends him for his commitment to the betterment of his community and his great personal achievement.

WHEREAS, as Carl Baumgart, Jr., son of Carl and Sue Baumgart is a lifetime resident of Overbrook; and
 
WHEREAS, Carl began his scouting career in the first grade as a Tiger Cub; and  
 
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Scoutmasters Dwayne Hiers, Tom Hipkiss and Harry Geis Carl advanced through the ranks of scouting and served in a variety of leadership positions, including Junior Assistant Scout Master of Troop 614; and  
 
WHEREAS, Carl's Eagle Scout Project consisted of bringing life back to an overgrown and abandoned apple orchard on the Fairhaven Greenway  by clearing and pruning the area in accordance with Frick Nature Center guidelines and by mulching the area and building log benches with the assistance of Lewis Tree Service; and
 
WHEREAS, this Carrick High School honors graduate has won a scholarship from the federal government because of his eagle project and is now attending California University to become a technical education teacher has completed the requirements of Eagle Scout, the Boy Scouts of America's highest honor;
