WHEREAS, Frank B. Fuhrer Jr., the founder, and owner of Frank B. Fuhrer Holdings, Inc., began building his business from scratch in 1966 and rose to become a Pittsburgh icon; and,

WHEREAS. Frank started his entrepreneurship with the Credit Life Insurance Agency at 40 years of age, swiftly moving forward to own businesses of all types until he landed on his most successful venture, the Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale Company, which proudly bears his name today; and,
WHEREAS, Frank made known through his life that family, Faith, and business were his top priorities; relishing in phone calls with friends and family, attending church daily, and commuting to work in a suit a tie; and,
WHEREAS, Frank's principles and beliefs remained consistent throughout his life. He is remembered for being fiercely driven and priding himself on loyalty, charity, and generosity to all he met; and,
WHEREAS, Frank's generosity was experienced by friends and strangers alike; donating to numerous charities in Western Pennsylvania, serving his South Side community, and helping those simply in need, and;
WHEREAS, Frank was instrumental in keeping the Pirates in Pittsburgh in the 1990s and founded the Family House Invitational Golf Tournament, which raised funds for the Family House which were the East End housing facilities for families of cancer and transplant patients; and,
WHEREAS, Frank embodied the principles of integrity, fairness, and consistency. His success in business, passion for golf, and philanthropic nature will forever serve as an inspiration to the people of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Frank B. Fuhrer's for his passion and hard-working demeanor that has left a lasting impression on the City of Pittsburgh; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, to be "Frank B. Fuhrer Day" in the City of Pitt...
