Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates Gregory Nicholas Thomas on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and declares Thursday, June 23, 2005 Gregory Nicholas Thomas Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Gregory Nicholas Thomas graduated Central High School on May 29, 2005 with a 4.3 QPA and has been offered scholarships to Duquesne University, Saint Joseph's University and the University of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, Gregory Nicholas Thomas joined Troop 224 in February, 1998.  Since that time Gregory has earned 43 merit badges, the Ad Altare Dei Religious Emblem and Pope Pius XII Religious Emblem, is a member of the Order of the Arrow, served as Assistant Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader, and helped restore the 2nd Vermont Calvary Monument landscape in Gettysburg; and,
 
WHEREAS, Gregory Nicholas Thomas chose refurbishing the St. Basil Parish Church Hall kitchen as his Eagle Scout Project.  In doing so he led 12 other volunteers in over 200 hours labor cleaning priming and repainting walls, cleaning ceiling tiles, cleaning, repainting and repapering the cabinets, cleaning the sink, exhaust fan, stove, island and food prep bench, washing all dishes and utensils, and assembling and installing a new shelving unit.  He planned this project so well he only exceeded his budget by 28 cents and officially completed the project February 24, 2005; and,
