Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Bernie Komoroski, a truly unique individual and a notable presence in the City of Pittsburgh, as he retires and commends him for over 25 years of dedicated and professional service to the City of Pittsburgh. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday October 28th, 2008, to be “Bernie Komoroski Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on March 9, 1987 following 19 years of professional experience working for ALCO Parking, Bernie Komoroski joined the City of Pittsburgh in a Laborer position for the City of Pittsburgh and on February 22, 1988 Bernie was promoted to the position of Buyer for the City of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, on January 1, 2004 following 15 years of professional experience working in the Buyer position, Bernie was again promoted to the position of Purchasing Agent for the City of Pittsburgh and on December 6, 2005 Bernie was promoted to the position of Procurement Services Coordinator for the City of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, Bernie was born and raised in Pittsburgh with his family and settled in Bon Air; with his wife, Carol Ann, and is father to Bernard, Donald, Christina, and Jeffrey and additionally having 5 grandchildren, Julia, Bernie, Emma, Katarina, and Brianna, and another one on the way; and

WHEREAS, during Bernie's tenure in with the City of Pittsburgh he has worked tirelessly to elevate the standard of professionalism of all of the employees under his authority while managing the City's purchasing and procurement program for all the Departments of the City; and

WHEREAS, Bernie has also served his community diligently as a member of various organizations such as the Young Democrats, Knights of Columbus, the Bon Air Civic Association, and the Saint Canice Alumni Association; and

WHEREAS, Bernie was also devoted to providing music to the citizens of the City of Pittsburgh as an excellent accordion player and member of a 50's singing group called Bernie and Bob. Additionally being a member of the Saint Canice choir, and presently a member of a local performing group called the Harmony Singers which performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City receiving a standing ovation.
