Resolution further amending Resolution No. 45, effective February 26, 2001, entitled, "Resolution authorizing and directing the Mayor to enter into an Agreement or Agreements with qualified drug treatment programs and other related services, in connection with the City's Operation Weed and Seed Program, by adding certain language and increasing the total aggregate amount from $3,950,000 to $5,075,000.

WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a supplemental grant by the United States Department of Justice for conducting an Operation Weed and Seed Program in the City; and

WHEREAS, the clear intent for the use of supplemental grant award from the federal government for Operation Weed and Seed is to devote the majority of the new funds to "seed" activities in the target communities for this program; and

WHEREAS, due to the conversion of the former Operation Weed and Seed Trust Fund to a Capital Budget Project, the amount is not to exceed $651,512.35. These funds are the remaining grant balances from prior year Weed and Seed funds which need to be converted to a Capital Budget Project.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Resolution No. 45, effective February 26, 2001, which currently reads a follows:

The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a professional services Agreement or Agreements with qualified drug treatment programs for drug treatment services, with qualified non-profit agencies for project coordination services, with qualified organizations for community surveying, social, educational, recreational, youth development, and other related services including transfer of salaries and fringe benefits, supply purchases, equipment purchases, travel reimbursement, and other expenses in connection with the City's Operation Weed and Seed Program, that are required for the successful conduct of the program, in a total aggregate amount not to e...
