WHEREAS, Bonnie DiCarlo and JoAnn Forrester founded Celebrate & Share in 2002 to raise funds for organizations that focus on the needs of women and children, and to highlight the many achievements of women in the Greater Pittsburgh area, and throughout the State of Pennsylvania; and,
WHEREAS, Celebrate & Share hosts two signature events each year to help support their cause: the Women of Achievement Awards, in March, and the Annual Breakfast in August; and,
WHEREAS, Celebrate & Share held its 6th Annual Breakfast at the Rivers Club on August 26, 2014, to celebrate one of the greatest achievements in the ongoing fight for gender equality: the passage of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which granted women the right to vote; and,
WHEREAS, the 6th Annual Breakfast also featured a special presentation by Kathleen G. Kane, who broke through gender barriers to become Pennsylvania's first female Attorney General; and,
WHEREAS, proceeds from the event will benefit the newly-created Pennsylvania Women's Hall of Achievement, which was established to honor women of achievement, educate the public about the accomplishments of women, and to establish educational exhibits that highlight the role women have played in the home, in politics, in the arts, and in our communities; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor Bonnie DiCarlo and JoAnn Forrester for creating and sustaining Celebrate & Share, and for their long-standing commitment to recognizing the accomplishments of women; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, August 26, 2014 to be "Celebrate & Share Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
