Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends Myron Cope on his work in sports and for his dedication and generosity for the benefit of the students at the Allegheny Valley School, and congratulates him on his acceptance of the Halo Award. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that today, November 17, 2005 be hereby declared "Myron Cope Day" in the City of Pittsburgh

WHEREAS, Myron Cope has been an integral and consistent contributor to the Allegheny Valley School for more than two decades.  He remains a true friend, dedicated parent and committed member of the community; and
 
WHEREAS, in 1983, Myron was one of the co-founders of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, which has continued to bring recognition and funds to Allegheny Valley School and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh for more than 20 years; and
 
WHEREAS, one of the most tremendous personal gifts that he has bestowed to Allegheny Valley School, were the documents that gave them the ownership of the Terrible TowelTM trademark.  Now every time that a Terrible TowelTM is sold, a portion of the proceeds go directly to benefit the school; and
 
WHEREAS, every year, Angels' Place sponsors an annual fall dinner at which a sports figure is honored for their contribution to the welfare of disadvantaged women or children; and
 
WHEREAS, this year, Angels' Place presents Myron Cope with the inaugural Halo Award for his dedication to and work on the behalf of all the special needs children at the Allegheny Valley School; and
 
WHEREAS, Myron Cope will be the man of the hour Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Super Tailgate Gala being held at the East Club Lounge at Heinz Field.
