Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends The South Brook Titans Softball Team for their drive, energy and teamwork, and congratulates them on their achievement on the diamond as the 2008 City League Champions. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 “South Brook Titans Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, after finishing the 2007 softball season with a 7 and 1 record, the South Brook Titans Softball Team began the 2008 season with renewed determination; and
 
WHEREAS, this focus resulted in an outstanding season with South Brook defeating South Hills Middle School in the playoffs by a score of 8 to 7.  Then the Titans went on to defeat Sterrett Middle School by a score of 19 to 4 to win their first City League Championship in the past 5 years; and
 
WHEREAS, the 2008 South Brook Titan Softball Team consists of 8th graders Ashley Niswonger, Danielle Dominowski, Kayle Priore, Tionna Williams, Lisa Dunlap and Lita Tranter; 7th graders Amber Sipe, Vanessa Kohl, Kaitlyn Mahouski, Kelly Shamlin and Danielle Baumgart; 6th graders Becca Ross, Lauren Zola, Katie Church, Lexi Binnie and Kacey Boland; and
 
WHEREAS, the adults who motivated these young women to excel are Coach Tom Nash, supported by Athletic Director Michael McGuire and Principal Gina Reichert; and
