WHEREAS, David Assad reporter for the South Pittsburgh Reporter, Serving Allentown, Arlington, Beltzhoover, Carrick, Knoxville, Mount Oliver, Mount Washington, South Side and the South Side Slopes, while fostering a well informed public so that they can make better decisions regarding their quality of life and the lives of their family, friends and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, it is important for the people to have access to reliable information regarding the communities they live in, providing a resource that they can use to improve their neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, David, a graduate of Slippery Rock State College and a resident of the South Side Slopes for 25 years has helped our neighborhoods to meet our need for information; and
WHEREAS, David has accurately reported on various features, items of human interest and community meetings which affect us and our neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, David has worked as a reporter for the South Pittsburgh Reporter for over three years and for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for eighteen years; and
WHEREAS, David has used his talents to help keep us better informed and because of this has enriched our community making it a better place to live; and
WHEREAS, the Arlington Civic Council hereby honors David Assad as "Man of the Year," at the Annual Dinner on Monday, June 5, 2006.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend David for his unrelenting efforts and dedication to the citizens and communities he serves, this dedication has earned him the recognition as Man of the Year; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Tuesday, June 6, 2006 as "David Assad Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
