Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the YMCA of Pittsburgh on 150 years of service to the community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday April 2, 2004 to be "Healthy Kids Day" here in the City of Pittsburgh.

Presented WHEREAS, the YMCA of Pittsburgh has been serving the Pittsburgh community for 150 years; and,
Body
WHEREAS, diverse communities of the Pittsburgh region face many challenges today: aging populations, economic hardship, social ills and health problems caused by sedentary lifestyles; and,
 
WHEREAS, the YMCA of Pittsburgh builds strong communities by providing services and programs that help communities meet their individual challenges and improve the lives of their citizens; and,
 
WHEREAS, the YMCA is a nationally affiliated character -building association focusing on program services for individuals and families.  Christian in its heritage, it is ecumenical in its delivery and its membership; and,
 
WHEREAS, the YMCA assists people in learning the skills and attitudes that will enrich their lives, help them grow and develop, lead them to interracial and intergenerational understanding and to realize their full potential as members of the community.  The YMCA emphasizes development of the whole person as embodied in the YMCA symbol, the triangle, signifying the union of the spirit, mind and body; and,
 
WHEREAS, on Saturday April 2, 2004 the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh will sponsor YMCA Healthy Kids Day to help our young people become healthier.
