Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Patricia Hare Johnson for her volunteerism and her selfless commitment to the needs of others and celebrate her milestone of 80 years; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Wednesday, May 29, 2024 to be "Patricia Hare Johnson Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Patricia Hare Johnson, a lifelong community activist and volunteer, is celebrating 80 years of life; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia was the co-founder of the youth group "For Respect and Responsibility which ran from 1976-1986. In 1980, Patricia earned an associate's degree in behavioral sciences from the Community College of Allegheny County. Later she graduated from St. Francis School of Rehabilitation Medicine and she has earned several professional certifications; and,

WHEREAS, she began her career in 1989 as a project director and co-founder of West Side Community Development Corporation. She and her team built 15 new homes before retiring in 2001. While developing a career with Ignite and Stream Energy, later acquired by ACN, Patricia became an assistant program manager with Citizen Care and tour coordinator for Exceptional Adventures. She also spent 25 years as a community living specialist with Mainstay Life Services. In 2019, she became an independent business operator with ACN, Inc., while still working with individuals with special needs; and,

WHEREAS, also dedicated to civil advocacy, she served as Community Center Director at the Salvation Army Westside Center, served on the Executive Board of the Fairywood Citizen Council and she intends to continue her work as the creator of the Kindness Project, which endeavors to spread kindness far and wide; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia has been a valued member of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Broadhead West Gate Community Development Alliance and the National Consumer Panel for 21 years. She was honored for her volunteerism by Partners for Quality and helped implement a pilot program for Ex-Offenders with the Carnegie Mellon University Center for Shared Prosperity, titled "People with Colorful Backgrounds"; and,
