title
Ordinance amending and supplementing the Pittsburgh Code of Ordinances, Title Five, Traffic, Article Seven, Parking, Chapter 543, Parking Meters and Chapter 549, Residential Parking Permit Program, to implement temporary enforcement and penalty provisions for specified areas during the NFL Draft.
body
Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Steelers have the proud honor of hosting the 2026 NFL Draft; and,
Whereas, it is estimated that more than 500,000 spectators will come to Pittsburgh to experience the NFL Draft; and,
Whereas, the difference between parking rates for public and private garages and metered parking spaces incentivize the use of metered parking spaces; and,
Whereas, the current fines for violations of metered parking regulations and residential permit parking, are unlikely to serve as a disincentive to violating the regulations; and,
Whereas, parking enforcement during the NFL Draft is likely to strain the manpower of the Pubic Parking Authority of Pittsburgh ("PPAP", "Parking Authority", "Authority"), and the revenue from a temporary increase in rates Downtown and the Northside, and a corresponding increase in the violations of the parking regulations will help to offset the added expense to the Parking Authority.
The Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The Pittsburgh Code of Ordinances, Title Five, Traffic, Article Seven, Parking, Chapter 543, Parking, is hereby amended and supplemented as follows:
