Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates and encourages the students who are participating in the 1st Annual Transition to Career Day, and commends the Pittsburgh Public Schools' Program for Students with Exceptionalities for its commitment to the students in Pittsburgh's Public Schools; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Tuesday, May 3, 2005 as "Transition to Career Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 members of  Pittsburgh City Council will host students for Pittsburgh Public Schools' First Annual Transition to Career Day; and
 
WHEREAS, Transition to Career Day gives students the opportunity to participate in a personal management and career management transition to adult life curriculum during their freshman and sophomore years of high school; and
 
WHEREAS, students will complete 15 hours of volunteer work during these years and work with their teachers to explore future career paths, and
 
WHEREAS, students Robert Lorenz, Jared Williams, Fransisco Sanchez, Don Connor, and Michael Grygarus will shadow Council Members on May 3, 2005, experiencing firsthand the everyday duties of an elected official at the city level; and
 
WHEREAS, Transition to Career Day is operated through the Program for Students with Exceptionalities under the guidance of Executive Director Dr. J. Kaye Cupples, and the students are accompanied by Stacie Dojonovic, Transition Facilitator of Special Projects and Jacqueline Blakey, Acting Principal of Perry Traditional Academy; and
 
WHEREAS, other partners include CIGNA Group Insurance, ALCOSAN, Port Authority, PNC Bank, Allegheny General Hospital, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and LifesWork; and
