WHEREAS, Jack Shultz was an integral part of the Arlington Community for 28 years; and
WHEREAS, Jack Shultz served on the Arlington Civic Council and was a past athletic director for Bishop Leonard school; and,
WHEREAS, Jack Shultz began his career in the Allegheny County Recorder of Deeds Department in 1972 as a clerk. He worked his way up to become Deputy Recorder of Deeds and was a stabilizing force in that department. His comprehensive knowledge and willingness to help his fellow employees and the general public was greatly appreciated by the Recorder of Deeds, his associates, and all those with whom he had contact; and,
WHEREAS, Jack Shultz was innovative in his job, insisting on cross-training for personnel, instituting a more efficient phone system and initiated the effort to salvage and scan historic maps and other county records dating back to 1788; and,
WHEREAS, most recently, Jack Shultz assisted the reopening of St. Clair Athletic Association's Richard Caliguiri Senior Center by researching the past records of the Association and the Center; and,
WHEREAS, Jack Shultz died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at the age of 55, and he is missed by all who knew him; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the efforts and contributions of Jack Shultz to his community, Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, and, be it further resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares Saturday, September 24, 2005 (the date of the official rededication of the Richard Caliguiri Senior Center) Jack Shultz Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
