Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 27, 2006 "Citizens Bank Day" and extends its sincere appreciation to Ralph Papa, President of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania, and the many city residents who work at the bank for their contribution to the prosperity and continued prominence of our region.

Whereas, Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania, a subsidiary of Citizens Financial Group, Inc., is a $33 billion state-chartered bank with dual headquarters in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. With 400 branches and more than 600 ATMs throughout the state, the bank meets the financial needs of people in our region; and
 
Whereas, the Citizens Job Bank is a public-private partnership aimed at helping companies expand and create new jobs for Pennsylvanians; and
 
Whereas, the Job Bank was created in 2004 through a partnership with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has resulted in the creation of 4,100 new jobs in our state and 1,000 in the Pittsburgh region; and
 
Whereas, Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania President Ralph Papa and Governor Rendell recently announced a new two-year $150 million commitment to the Jobs Bank program; and
 
Whereas, the program targets companies that need access to capital for business expansion and requires that specified jobs be created within three years after a loan is received from the Job Bank; and
 
Whereas, more than 400 new jobs have been created in Allegheny County at Frontier Steel, American Textile, Benshaw, and Medrad; and
