Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby thank and commend Cornerstone TeleVision for its spiritual work for the betterment of the community and congratulates them on their 25th Birthday of successfully bringing the wholesome programming to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 15, 2004 as "Cornerstone TeleVision Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Norma Bixler had a vision to bring a Christian television station to the City of Pittsburgh, and together with her husband Russell, they faced financial, legal, personal, and logistical hurdles, but with the help of God and their determination, they conquered each obstacle one by one. In 1970 Cornerstone TeleVision was incorporated and broadcasting began April 15, 1979; and
WHEREAS, Cornerstone TeleVision is a viewer-supported ministry committed to using television as a force for greater good. Its mission is to serve and excel as a media ministry and provide entertaining means to evangelize and educate the general public in its viewing area. As a result, people come to know Christ personally and can be encouraged to join a local church; and
WHEREAS, through the powerful medium of satellite technology, the ministry of Cornerstone TeleVision is sharing the Gospel with more than 100 affiliate stations, reaching over 52 million homes throughout the Western Hemisphere; and
WHEREAS, Cornerstone has contributed over $500,000 to various ministries worldwide. Over the last 20 years, over 15,000 viewers have phoned to say they have come to Christ as a direct result of the daily program, "Getting Together". Also, more than 1.1 million viewers have called the Cornerstone TeleVision Prayer Line requesting someone to pray with them; and
WHEREAS, Cornerstone broadcasts 24 hours-a-day and produces two daily programs and fourteen weekly programs. Several programs have received national awards, including the Telly, Angel, Communicator Awards and the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters' Award of Excellence; and
WHERERAS, in 1998 and 2000, Cornerstone TeleVision was named "Television Station of the Year" by the National Religious Broadcasters Association. In 1998, the station was awarded Broadcast Facility of the year by the NRB; and
WHEREAS, on April 15, 2004, Cornerstone TeleVision will celebrate 25 years of bringing Entertainment, Evangelism...
