Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby wishes to sincerely commend all of these aforementioned individuals (2006 National Preservation Conference) for the vital work that they accomplish in terms of the artistic revitalization of the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS the 2006 National Preservation Conference will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from October 31st through November 5th, 2006; and
 
WHEREAS this event is sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, along with support from the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation; and
 
WHEREAS this conference will play host to a wide variety of events including a Gala to be held at the Mattress Factory on the evening of Wednesday, November 1st, 2006 from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.; and
 
WHEREAS Mr. David McMunn, who also acts as the President of the Northside's Mexican War Streets Society, has successfully organized this Gala which seeks to celebrate those members of the Pittsburgh art community who reuse historic buildings and spaces in order to better accomplish their artistic goals; and
 
WHEREAS Thomas Sokolowski of the Warhol Museum, Barbara Luderowski of the Mattress Factory, and Michael Olijnykn of the Mattress Factory have all played a significant role locally, as they have further developed the rich connection that can and should exist between art and historic spaces.
