Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, July 25, 2014 , to be “ SYLVIA GOLD DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, "Youth is the gift of nature but age is a work of art" ; and,
WHEREAS, Sylvia Gold is a beautiful, genuine, intelligent woman celebrating her 100th birthday on July 25, 2014. Sylvia was born in 1914 in the Harlem Section of New York, one of four children who are all still living. A Pittsburgh resident for 85 years, Sylvia was the Valedictorian of her high school class at Schenley High School; and,    
WHEREAS, Sylvia met her future husband, Manny Gold, through her best friend, Ruth Gold Markowitz, who was Manny's sister. They married in 1935 and were married for 70 years before Manny passed away in 2005. Manny Gold had a successful real estate business and was active in city , county and state politics with Sylvia always at his side as a dedicated and committed support for all of Manny's work; and,
WHEREAS, currently a resident of Weinberg Village, Sylvia still plays scrabble, card games and does crossword puzzles but is most devoted to her wonderful family; and,
      WHEREAS, Sylvia and Manny had two children, Sanford and Russell, 5 grandchildren , (Bob Gold, Karen Gold Anisfeld, Sue Gold Long, Lisa Gold Rudick and Erika Gold Kestenberg), and 8 great grandchildren ( Jess Gold, Alon Anisfeld, Julie Long, Jake Gold, Jordan Long, Max Rudick, Roi Kestenberg and Tal Kestenberg) . Sylvia is proud and gratified to have maintained a close relationship with all of her family as well as her family in New York. Sylvia's family will celebrate her 100th Birthday with a family dinner at Bravo Restaurant.
      NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Sylvia Gold on the occasion of her 100th birthday and notes her 85 years as a resident of the City of Pittsburgh and her 70 year marriage to Manny Gold; and,
