Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of Finance to enter into an agreement with Carnegie Mellon University for a real estate subdivision and exchange involving two parcels having identification numbers 80-N-5-9 and 80-N-8 at no cost to the City.

WHEREAS, the City is the owner in fee simple of that certain parcel of real property located in the 9th Ward of the City of Pittsburgh, County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, being identified as Parcel Tax ID 80-N-5-9 (the “City Parcel”).

 

WHEREAS, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is the owner in fee simple of that certain parcel of real property located in the 9th Ward of the City of Pittsburgh, County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, being identified as Parcel Tax ID 80-N-8 (the “CMU Parcel”).

 

WHEREAS, the City Parcel and the CMU Parcel are contiguous.

 

WHEREAS, the CMU Parcel currently contains a publicly-used recreational trail.

 

WHEREAS, the City wishes to subdivide the City Parcel and convey a portion thereof to CMU in exchange for that portion of the CMU Parcel that is currently used as a recreational trail.

 

WHEREAS, CMU wishes to subdivide the CMU Parcel and convey a portion thereof to the City in exchange for a portion of the City Parcel.

 

 

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Section 1.                     The Mayor and the Director of Finance, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are authorized to enter into an agreement with Carnegie Mellon University for a real estate subdivision and exchange involving two parcels having identification numbers 80-N-5-9 and 80-N-8, whereby each said parcel will be subdivided and portions thereof will be exchanged between the parties.
