WHEREAS, Ronald Carter Jr. is a distinguished athlete and public servant whose career reflects excellence, leadership, and dedication both on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, he began building his legacy at Perry High School, where he distinguished himself as a standout student athlete and demonstrated the determination and work ethic that would define his future success; and
WHEREAS, he continued his academic and athletic career at the Virginia Military Institute, excelling in basketball while embracing the discipline, integrity, and service values instilled by the Institute; and
WHEREAS, Ronald advanced to the professional ranks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), including playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, competing at the highest level of the sport and representing his community with pride and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, following his athletic career, Ronald continued his dedication to public service as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at LifeHouse Incorporated, Director of Veteran Affairs at East West University, and founder of several Chicago-based initiatives, bringing his experience and leadership to these roles; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his lifelong achievements and his positive impact across athletics and public service, Ronald is being honored as a Special Guest Honoree at the Annual Dr. Attorney Cyril H. Wecht Western Pennsylvania Humanitarian Awards;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and honors Ronald Carter Jr. for his outstanding accomplishments in athletics and public service and commends the example he continues to set for future generations; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Saturday, February 28, 2026, to be “Ronald Carter Jr. Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
