Title
Ordinance Supplementing the Pittsburgh Code, Title Six, Conduct, Article One, Regulated Rights and Actions, by adding a new Chapter 624 entitled Lost and Stolen Firearms.
 
Body
Be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby enacts as follows:
 
Section 1.      The Pittsburgh Code, Title Six, Conduct, Article One, Regulated Rights and Actions, is hereby supplemented by adding a new Chapter 624 entitled Lost and Stolen Firearms.
 
624.01 Failure to Report Lost or Stolen Firearm
      No person who is the owner of a firearm that is lost or stolen shall fail to report the loss or theft to an appropriate local law enforcement official within 24 hours after discovery of the loss or theft.
 
624.02 Severability
      If any provision of this Chapter or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid for any reason in a court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity does not affect other provisions or any other application of this Chapter which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and for this purpose the provisions of this Chapter are declared severable.
 
624.03 Penalty
1. Any person who violates Section 623.01:
a. For the first violation such person shall be subject to a fine of not more than $500.
            b. For the second and subsequent violations thereafter such person shall be subject to a fine of not more than $1000, or imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or both.
 
Section 2.       This Ordinance takes effect ten (10) days after final passage.
 
Section 3.       That all Ordinances inconsistent with the above provisions are repealed to the extent of their inconsistency.
