WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta was introduced to the region thirty-five years ago and, held annually since its inaugural run, has since become the largest inland regatta in the nation and the biggest venue on the powerboat racing circuit, bringing powerboat and jet ski races, live music and outdoor activities to thousands of spectators each year at Point State Park; and
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta has evolved into a beloved Pittsburgh tradition, moving from August to July to serve as the city's official 4th of July celebration for national and international visitors alike in the region's biggest free summertime event; and
WHEREAS, this year's Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta will take place June 30 through July 4, 2012, in the City of Pittsburgh and other appropriate venues in western Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta regularly features world champion performers in extreme air, water and land sports to create unrivaled showmanship on the water, including such unique competitions as its "Anything That Floats" race; and
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta Board of Directors leadership, including Chairman John Bonassi; Vice Chairman Joe Kirk; Vice Chairman J.D. Fogarty; Treasurer Corey Deible; Assistant Secretary and General Counsel Greg Harbaugh; the entire Three Rivers Regatta Board of Directors; and the entire team at Integrated Strategic Marketing, USA, are recognized for their continued dedication and efforts, ensuring another successful year of festivities; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta Board of Directors and ISM-USA on their astounding success in celebrating our City's greatest regional assets and the commemoration of our nation's most important day; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 30 through July 4, 2012 to be the "Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.
