Resolution authorizing the Mayor, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to accept grants from Peoples Gas in the amount of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) for the City’s “Love Your [Resilient] Block” Program and further authorizing the Mayor, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to enter into mini-grant reimbursement agreements with qualified nonprofit organizations to complete block revitalization projects for the City's Love Your [Resilient] Block Program.

Whereas, “Love Your [Resilient] Block” is a block revitalization program created to reduce blight and increase resilience in the City of Pittsburgh by inviting neighborhood groups from across the City to propose volunteer-led projects to transform their blocks, and, if selected by the City through a competitive process, to enter into mini-grant reimbursement agreements with the City to fund these projects; and
Whereas, Peoples Gas has offered to provide grant monies to the City of Pittsburgh in order to fund selected 2017 Love Your [Resilient] Block projects.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1.
The Mayor, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, is authorized to accept a grant from Peoples Gas in the amount of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) for the City’s Love Your Block Program. Grant monies received will be deposited into 0229400198.48311.00.
Section 2.
The Mayor, on behalf of the City, is hereby authorized to enter into mini-grant reimbursement agreements with selected qualified nonprofit organizations to complete block revitalization projects. The mini-grant reimbursement agreements shall be awarded in an amount not to exceed One Thousand and Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) per mini-grant for the initial rounds of projects for 2017 and in an amount not to exceed Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) for each of two additional grants awarded to one of the selected groups for the best project each season. Grant monies will be paid out of 0229400198.50000.00. The mini-grant reimbursement agreements will be approved by the City Solicitor as to form and substance and shall contain such other terms and conditions as may be in the best interest of the City. All reimbursements to be made to groups through the mini-grant reimbursement agreements are subject to and contingent upon the prior receipt by the City of the grant funds from Peoples Gas.
