Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Officer Tiffany Kline-Costa for her exemplary work as an Officer and her selfless work with our Youth; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, February 28, 2018, to be "Officer Tiffany Kline-Costa Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Officer Tiffany Kline-Costa joined the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police on August 20, 2012, became a Field Training Officer and is currently a Community Resource Officer stationed at Zone 6; and,

 

WHEREAS, as a Community Resource Officer, Officer Costa participates in numerous community events, many of which she created, facilitated and staffed, taking a special interest in youth who are suffering from hunger and fear and living in unsafe housing conditions; and,

 

WHEREAS, such events include, but certainly are not limited to, volunteering at CLP-Sheraden as a Reading Buddy, starting a Chess Club, Coffee with Cops, and running a pop-up recreation center, where she makes a significant impact on the youth by promoting positive community relationships and educational programming; she volunteers with autistic programs, often taking a disruptive child aside and helping them through their issues; and, 

 

WHEREAS, in addition, Officer Kline-Costa volunteers with Stuffed with Love, an annual Community-Police event that provides free hot traditional Thanksgiving Day meals to people in need, she maintains the Zone 6 Facebook Page, and volunteers as a 911 Reactive Officer and; 

 

WHEREAS, as a Field Training Officer, she was an exceptional mentor to new recruits ; once while training, she saved the life of an overdosing civilian by placing a moving vehicle in park and administering Narcan to the driver, which was one of her achievements that awarded her Bureau Officer of the Month in November, 2016; she was also awarded Officer of the Year in 2016 and she was one of four recipients of the 2017 United Way SWPA “Be There Awards” which honors those who go above and beyond to inspire and motivate students; and, 

 

WHEREAS, prior to coming to the Bureau, Tiffany was a Special Education Teacher with Holy Family Institute and also served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member where she helped start a community center called the “I CARE House in New Castle; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tiffany is married to a city of Pittsburgh firefighter and they have three children who attend Pittsburgh Public Schools.  In her spare time, she enjoys crossword puzzles and CrossFit; and,
