Title: Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Tuesday, February 17, 2009, to March 13, 2009, as Stranger Awareness Month in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, a program sponsored by the Allegheny General Hospital Auxiliary and the Allegheny General Hospital-Northside Leadership Conference Partnership, on "Stranger Awareness" will be conducted throughout the months of February and March, and;
WHEREAS, the disappearance and murder of East Allegheny resident Scott Drake was the catalyst for the Stranger Awareness Program on the Northside, and;
WHEREAS, the program is in its eighth year of targeting students in Northside Elementary Schools - this year at the Martin Luther King School, Allegheny Traditional Academy, and Cardinal Wright School, and;
WHEREAS the elementary students receive three days of instruction from Taylor Allderdice, Oliver High School, and Perry Traditional Academy students focusing on the importance of Stranger Awareness on February 20, February 27 and March 6, and;
WHEREAS the program will conclude with performances for students by David Grover and the Big Bear Band on March 12 and 13, and;
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh wishes to recognize, commend and thank the following individuals for their participation in this program:
