Title
Resolution authorizing and directing the Mayor to enter into an Agreement or Agreements with qualified drug treatment programs for drug treatment services and other related services with qualified non-profit agencies in connection with the City's Operation Weed and Seed program in the amount of $926,000.00.

WHEREAS, the City has been awarded grants by the United States Department of Justice for conducting an Operation Weed and Seed Program in the City; and
 
 
WHEREAS, Supplemental grant awards totaling $926,000.00 have been received from the federal government for activities to support the Operation Weed and Seed Program and Project Safe Neighborhoods, a focused anti-gun violence initiative;
 
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
 
Section 1.  The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a professional services Agreement or Agreements with qualified drug treatment programs for drug treatment services, with qualified non-profit agencies for project coordination services, with qualified organizations for community surveying, social, educational, recreational, youth development, and other related services including transfer of salaries and fringe benefits, supply purchases, equipment purchases, travel reimbursement, and other expenses in connection with the City's Operation Weed and Seed Program and Project Safe Neighborhoods, that are required for the successful conduct of these programs, in a total aggregate amount not to exceed Nine Hundred and Twenty Six Thousand Dollars ($926,000.00), chargeable to and payable from the Operation Weed and Seed Account, Account Number 500000; Fund 2460; Organization 102000; Subclass W2004; Project Grant Number G221450; Budget year 2004.  Said Agreement shall be in a form approved by the City Solicitor and shall contain such other terms and conditions as may be in the best interest of the City and are required by the Operation Weed and Seed Program.  All payments to be made under this agreement are subject to and contingent upon the receipt by the City of the federal grant money for the Operation Weed and Seed Program.
