Title
Resolution authorizing the City to enter into a Grant Agreement with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for the receipt of grant monies in the amount of one hundred eighty one thousand, one hundred twenty-nine dollars and eight cents ($181,129.08).  These funds will be used to implement the enforcement and prevention of the unlawful operation of illegal electro mechanical gaming devices slot machines and illegal gambling in the Pittsburgh area.  
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board provides grant monies for projects involving the state funding assistance for the implementation of enforcement and prevention of the unlawful operation of illegal electro mechanical gaming devices slot machines and illegal gambling in the Pittsburgh area with a comprehensive multi-tiered strategy; and
 
WHEREAS, the City's Bureau of Police has applied for and received a grant for January 1, 2008 until December 31, 2008 from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for this purpose; and
 
WHEREAS, the parties now wish to enter into a grant agreement setting for the duties and responsibilities of the parties.
 
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
 
Section 1.      The Mayor and the Chief of Police are hereby authorized to enter into a Grant Agreement with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for the receipt of grant monies in the amount of one hundred eighty one thousand, one hundred twenty-nine dollars and eight cents ($181,129.08).  These funds will be used to implement the enforcement and prevention of the unlawful operation of illegal electro mechanical gaming devices slot machines and illegal gambling in the Pittsburgh area.  The Grant Agreement shall be approved as to form and substance by the City Solicitor and monies shall be deposited into the Grants Trust Fund: account 450520, fund 2940, organization code 233000, project PR10011, budget year 2008, sub-class 600, Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Police.
 
Section 2.      The Chief of Police, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, is hereby further authorized to enter into agreement or agreements, contract or contracts, and to make all legitimate expenditures required under the terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board outlined in Section 1 of this resolution. Said agreement or agreements, contract or contracts, or expenditures shall not exceed one hundred eighty one thousand, one hundred twenty-nine dollars and eight cents ($181,129.08) chargeable to and payable from the Grants Trust Fund: fund 2940, organization code 233000, project PR10011, acct. 524770, budget year 2008, Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Police.
