Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate the Pittsburgh Banjo Club on 25 years of happy music and service to the Pittsburgh region; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, December 15, 2013 to be “Pittsburgh Banjo Club Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Banjo Club, was founded by Frank Rossi on December 15, 1988 as a non-profit organization welcoming  men and women from all walks of life, with a common goal: the encouragement and preservation of the banjo, which is America's Native Instrument; and
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Banjo Club will be celebrating 25 years of providing thousands in the Pittsburgh region with "the happiest music in the world" at concerts, sing-alongs, conventions, fund raisers, political rallies, reunions; and
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Banjo Club has 80 members, including the Club's officers Joe DeFrancesco, Rob Nigrelli, John Esposito and Musical Director, Norman Azinger; and
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Banjo Club's two youngest members are 12  year old Enzo Chiodi and 13 year old Nico Chiodi; Enzo and Nico are recognized as two of the finest banjo players in the nation today and have appeared  at conventions and banjo shows across the US; and
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Banjo Club, performs music from the '20s and '30s, polkas and Dixieland at many functions, donating the monies raised to local charities; to date the Club has donated over $90,000 to Pittsburgh area organizations; and
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Banjo Club holds practice sessions every Wednesday, at 8 p.m., at the Allegheny Elks Lodge #339, on Pittsburgh's North Side, and invites the general public to attend; and
 
WHEREAS, the practice sessions provide a fun and friendly atmosphere that attracts fans of all ages,  from families, to young singles and couples, to senior citizens who enjoy this  jewel of the North Side; and
