Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Hal and Sylvia Glick on the occasion of their 25th Wedding Anniversary, recognizing their mutually respectful and loving relationship and honoring them for their love and devotion to each other; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, July 5, 2017, to be "SYLVIA AND HAL GLICK DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the 25th Wedding Anniversary is a milestone event in a couple’s life and is marked as a silver anniversary as silver symbolizes the harmony that people believed a couple needed to sustain a happy marriage; and,

 

WHEREAS, Hal and Sylvia Glick defines what it takes to have a happy marriage. Responding to an ad in the Jewish Chronicle long before the advent of JDate, the couple met because they liked and disliked the very same things; and,   

 

WHEREAS, their first meeting at Aiello’s Pizza and their first date at The Funny Bone confirmed that Hal and Sylvia had a lot in common. But all good relationships have their difficulties; and,

 

WHEREAS, Sylvia, born in the Bronx, NY and Hal, born and bred in Pittsburgh, split up after 5 months of dating, only to be reunited the following year when they met again in Philadelphia and when Sylvia relocated back to Pittsburgh in 1989.  They resumed their relationship as well as their mutual love of movies, comedy clubs, and eating out.  Today they live at the Forward-Shady Apartments, having served as Floor Captains and signing up residents for activities, brunches and dinners.  Hal has been a Democratic Committeeman, first in the 4th Ward and now in the 14th Ward, is an avid New York Times Crossword Puzzle devotee and is a big fan of the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.  Sylvia is an avid mystery novel reader, a coupon clipper and a Pirates fan. Both are devoted to their great nephews, Hayden, Olliver, Otto and Wolf; and,

 

WHEREAS, Hal and Sylvia Glick were married on July 5, 1992 by Rabbi Stephen Steindel at Congregation Beth Shalom.  This year, on the occasion of their 25th Wedding Anniversary, Hal and Sylvia will be renewing their vows on Sunday July 9th, 2017 at the Forward-Shady Apartments with friends and family in attendance; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Hal and Sylvia Glick on the occasion of their 25th Wedding Anniversary, recognizing their mutually respectful and loving relationship and honoring them for their love and devotion to each other; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, July 5, 2017, to be “SYLVIA AND HAL GLICK DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
