Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012 to be Pittsburgh Public Schools CBVE Day in the City of Pittsburgh, in recognition for their dedication, along with their partners, to students with disabilities in the Pittsburgh community.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Public Schools Community Based Vocational Education Program gives transition age high school students with autism spectrum disorders and moderate to severe intellectual and physical disabilities the opportunity to become prepared for the world of work by participating in vocational experiences; and,
WHEREAS, the CBVE Program helpd students throughout Pittsburgh explore their career interests while they are building the skills needed to be successful in the workplace; and,
WHEREAS, the FISA Foundation is dedicated to promoting a productive, inclusive community for women, girls and people with disabilities by their investment in strengthening organizations, cultivating partnerships and encouraging best practices; and,
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Ms. Kristy Trautmann, Executive Director, the FISA Foundation Board of Directors generously granted a $5,000 gift to the CBVE Program to support training of all CBVE business partners in the area of "disability awareness;" and,  
WHEREAS, Sodexo Campus Dining Services at the University of Pittsburgh has been a supportive committed CBVE business partner and host to CBVE students for the last fourteen years and has hired over twenty five CBVE students; and,
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Susan Fukushima, Resident District Manager, Mr. Abdou Cole, General Manager and Mrs. Beth Plocki, Human Resources Manager, Sodexo has invited the CBVE Program to present disability awareness training to all of their employees; and,
WHEREAS, other CBVE Pittsburgh business partners include the City of Pittsburgh , East Hills Giant Eagle, Mt. Washington Foodland, Heartland Healthcare Center, Elizabeth Seton Childcare Center, Pittsburgh Public Schools Board of Education Central Office, EatnPark Restaurants, The Dog Stop, Wendy's Restaurant, Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Sixth Presbyterian Church, Bidwell Training Center and Marian Manor Nursing Home; and,
