Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Amen Corner for its 8th Annual Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon and recognizes Susan Wagner for her outstanding work in sculpture ; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, October 22, 2008, to be “SUSAN WAGNER” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Amen Corner is a prestigious organization which has been a Pittsburgh tradition since 1870 and whose purpose is to encourage camaraderie, fraternity and relationships amongst people of all walks of life; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Amen Corner has been honoring members of Law Enforcement for their bravery, above and beyond the call of duty at the Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon each fall; and,
WHEREAS, this year, Amen Corner will hold its Eighth Annual Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at the Sheraton Hotel in Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, in addition to the recognition of 10 Western Pennsylvania police officers, Amen Corner will be honoring Susan Wagner, an accomplished sculptor and painter with the Artistic Award for Excellence; and,
 
WHEREAS, Susan Wagner specializes in figurative sculptures and Fauve style paintings and is best known for sculpting the inductees in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, her statues of Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell in action at PNC Park, the life size sculptures commemorating the 13 soldiers from the 14th Quartermaster Battalion of Greensburg, PA, who lost their lives, a painting of the "Doughboy of Lawrenceville" and a painting of Pope John Paul II hanging in the Vatican Garden; and,
 
WHEREAS, Susan Wagner also sculpted the Police Memorial Statue at the Police Memorial on the North Shore of Pittsburgh and is being honored for sculpting the replicas of the Police Memorial that are to be presented at the Eighth Annual Amen Corner Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Luncheon to the top ten of Western Pennsylvania's finest police officers for their bravery, above and beyond the call of duty.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Amen Corner for its 8th Annual Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon and recognizes Susan Wagner for her outstanding work in sculpture ; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, October 22, 2008, to be "SUSAN WAGNER"  in the City of Pittsburgh.
