Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares Tuesday, October 14th, 2003 as Stranger Danger Awareness Day in the City of Pittsburgh;

WHEREAS, October is National Crime Prevention Month, and;

WHEREAS, to join in these efforts in Pittsburgh, a program sponsored by the Allegheny General Hospital Auxiliary and the Allegheny General Hospital–Northside Leadership Conference Partnership, on the "Dangers of Strangers" will be conducted throughout the month of October, and;

WHEREAS, the disappearance and murder of East Allegheny resident Scott Drake was the catalyst for the Stranger Danger Awareness Program on the Northside, and;

WHEREAS, the program is in its third year of targeting students in Northside Elementary Schools – this year being at the Chatham Elementary and Manchester Elementary Schools, and;

WHEREAS the program is being led this year by Katie Kelly-Hankin from Taylor Allderdice High School and Jeannia Woodson, Oliver High School

WHEREAS the elementary students receive three days of instruction from Taylor Allderdice and Oliver High School students focusing on the importance of Stranger Danger Awareness on October 4,10 and 17, and;

WHEREAS the program will conclude with a performance for students by David Grover and the Big Bear Band on Monday, October 20;

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh wishes to recognize, commend and thank the following individuals for their participation in this program:
