Title

Resolution providing for the authorization to make all legitimate expenditures for Payments, Agreement or Agreements with various agencies and vendors to address workforce shortages in the City of Pittsburgh's fast growing business and financial services sector by facilitating the training and employment of Pittsburgh job seekers brought on by the increase in employment opportunities in the business and financial services industry within the City of Pittsburgh.  Funds will be committed for technical and developmental activities, staff to coordinate various activities, to identify and develop local training resources to support data tracking of business and financial industry clusters, to compile a directory of technical assistance resources and research projects with workforce development professionals, to establish operating and industry standards necessary to implement a strategic plan for employment of job seekers through the use of the Mayor's Business and Financial Services Initiative Program and for payment of costs thereof.

Body

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Section 1.  The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Personnel and Civil Service Commission on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter Into Payments, Agreement or Agreements with various agencies and vendors to address workforce shortages in the City of Pittsburgh's fast growing business and financial services sector by facilitating the training and employment of Pittsburgh job seekers brought on by the increase in employment opportunities in the business and financial services industry within the City of Pittsburgh.  Said Payments, Agreement or Agreements shall be in a form approved by the City Solicitor and shall contain such terms and conditions as said Solicitor may require. The total cost and reimbursement to the City for City paid costs shall not exceed One Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand ($125,000) Dollars chargeable to and payable from the Mayor's Business and Financial Services Initiative MLO, Account 500000, Fund 2610, Organization 102000 Sub-Class C2001, Project/Grant 2267054, Budget Year 2001.

 

Section 2.  The City Controller is hereby authorized and directed to transfer funds from time to time upon notification from the Director of the Department of Personnel andCivil Service Commission, in a total amount not the exceed One Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand ($125,000) Dollars from the Mayor's Business and Financial Services Initiative MLO, Account 500000, Fund 2610, Organization 102000 Sub-Class C2001, Project/Grant 2267054, Budget Year 2001, to the JTPA/WIA Trust Fund, Account 566000, Fund 2300, Organization 109600, Sub-Class 600 Budget Year 2001, to address workforce shortages in the City of Pittsburgh's fast growing business and financial services sector by facilitating the training and employment of Pittsburgh job seekers brought on by the increase in employment opportunities in the business and financial services industry within the City of Pittsburgh.  Funds will be committed for technical and developmental activities, staff to coordinate various activities, to identify and develop local training resources to support data tracking of business and financial industry clusters, to compile a directory of technical assistance resources and research projects with workforce development professionals, to establish operating and industry standards necessary to implement a strategic plan for employment of job seekers.  The City Controller is also authorized and directed to transfer, upon notification from the Director of the Department of Personnel and Civil Service Commission, any unexpended funds to address workforce shortages in the City of Pittsburgh by facilitating the training and employment of Pittsburgh job seekers brought on by the increase in employment opportunities in the business and financial services sector.   Funds will be committed for technical and developmental activities, staff to coordinate various technical activities, to identify and develop local training resources to support data tracking of business and financial industry clusters, to compile a directory of technical assistance resources and research projects with workforce development professionals, to establish operating and industry standards necessary to implement a strategic plan for employment of job seekers and other related expenditures remaining in the JTPA/WIA Trust Fund at the end of the program back to the 2001 Mayor's Business and Financial Services Initiative Program MLO, Account 500000, Fund 2610, Organization 102000 Sub-Class C2001, Project/Grant 2267054, Budget Year 2001.

 

Section 3.  The aggregate amount payable under this Resolution shall not exceed One Twenty Five Thousand ($125,000) Dollars.
