Resolution amending Resolution 388 of 2025, authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a professional services agreement or agreements with Starfire Corporation, for an enhanced fireworks show held in conjunction with the City of Pittsburgh’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of Independence Day, by modifying the code account to include grant funding, and by increasing the amount by Two Hundred Sixty-One Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($261,800) for a new total cost not to exceed Five Hundred Fourteen Thousand Dollars ($514,000.00) over three years.

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh currently holds a multi-year contract with Starfire Corporation for fireworks displays as part of the City’s annual Independence Day Festival; and

 

WHEREAS, for the 2026 fireworks display, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of Independence Day, the City wishes to provide an enhanced performance to properly showcase the event; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh now wishes to amend its agreement with Starfire Corporation in order to provide for the desired enhancements to the City’s 2026 fireworks display.

 

 

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Resolution 388 of 2025 entitled “Resolution amending Resolution 333 of 2024 authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to enter into a professional services agreement with Starfire Corporation, for the display of a fireworks show in conjunction with the City of Pittsburgh's Independence Day Festival for a three-year term at a total amount not to exceed of Two Hundred Fifty-Two Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($252,200.00) by modifying the code account to include payment from the general fund.” is hereby amended as follows:

 

Section 1:                     The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, are authorized to enter into a professional services agreement with Starfire Corporation, for the display of a fireworks show in conjunction with the City of Pittsburgh’s Independence Day Festival for a three-year term (2024-2026) at a total amount not to exceed Five Hundred Fourteen Thousand Dollars ($514,000.00),

 

Section 2:                     Funds for said agreement shall be payable from the following chart of accounts:

 

2024:  Special Events Trust Fund, $80,000 from 5000731400.53901.00

2025:  General Fund, $84,000 from 11101.500000.53.53901.2025

2026:  General Fund, $88,200 from 11101.500000.53.53901.2026

2026:  RK Mellon Grant, $261,800 from 5029400545.53901.00

 

Section 3:                     Any Resolution or Ordinance or part thereof conflicting with the provisions of the Resolution is hereby repealed so far as the same effects this Resolution.

 

Section 4:                      Such Agreements shall be in a form approved by the City Solicitor as to form.
