Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare the month of September 2026 to be “Addiction Recovery Month” in the City of Pittsburgh, and recognizes Daniel Garrighan, William Petrosky, and Jodie Pagano for their extraordinary efforts to support recovery in our region.

Body

WHEREAS, recovery from substance use disorders is possible through a variety of treatment resources, recovery support programs, and many other pathways, with millions of people across the United States living happy, healthy, and productive lives in recovery; and,

 

WHEREAS, a community of recovery is beneficial to overcoming misconceptions and helping people achieve long-term recovery; and,

 

WHEREAS, on September 12th, 2026, the eleventh annual Pittsburgh Recovery Walk will take place across the region to celebrate the process and beauty of recovery from substance use disorder, including the presentation of Recovery Awards to the following individuals; and,

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Garrighan is a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor and behavioral healthcare leader, CEO of JADE Wellness Center and founder of Bloom Mental Healthcare, as well as a member of the Allegheny County Drug and Alcohol Planning Council and aiding the recovery residence John Ryan’s House and nonprofit John’s Echo, receiving the award for Recovery Caregiver; and,

 

WHEREAS, William Petrosky is the founder and executive director of 501(c)(3) Rods 4 Recovery, which uses fishing, fly tying, and outdoor experiences to aid and inspire recovery, as well as author of book One Cast at a Time, which details his recovery journey and finding purpose through service to others, receiving the award for Recovery Pathway Supporter; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jodie Pagano is a behavioral health and nonprofit leader with more than a decade of experience helping individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder, currently serving as a Supervisor with GTC’s Center of Excellence and as Supervisor of Club Serenity’s DDAP-funded SUD Drop-In Center, combining her professional expertise with her own lived experience and understanding, receiving the award for Recovery Advocate; and,

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Garrighan, William Petrosky, and Jodie Pagano have been presented with Pittsburgh Recovery Awards by the 2026 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk; and,
