WHEREAS, Ryan “D.J. Afterthought” Haynes is an accomplished open-format DJ, producer, and audio engineer whose career has elevated Pittsburgh’s influence in the global music industry through innovation, collaboration, and artistry; and
WHEREAS, D.J. Afterthought has worked alongside an extraordinary range of artists and institutions, including Taylor Gang Records and the ID Labs studio collective, and has collaborated or performed with world-renowned acts such as Earthgang, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, Action Bronson, Diplo, Cee Lo Green, Lil Wayne, Tyler the Creator, Pusha T, Chevy Woods, Skepta, and Travis Barker; and
WHEREAS, his international career has included appearances at premier festivals such as Coachella, EDC, Tomorrowland, Lost Lands, and Bonnaroo, as well as residencies and shows at top venues in Las Vegas and around the world; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his performance career, D.J. Afterthought has distinguished himself as a producer, releasing original material including the EP The Underachiever (2016), and co-producing notable singles like “McQueen Dreams” featuring Wiz Khalifa; and
WHEREAS, after earning degrees in Business and Sound/Audio, D.J. Afterthought began his professional journey at West Virginia University and quickly became a fixture in Pittsburgh’s creative ecosystem-working with Daily Bread clothing and connecting with Mac Miller, an encounter that propelled him into a global touring career while maintaining deep roots in his hometown; and
WHEREAS, through his artistry, mentorship, and continued presence in Pittsburgh’s music community, D.J. Afterthought has inspired a generation of young creatives and contributed to the City’s national reputation as a hub of talent and innovation;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Ryan “D.J. Afterthought” Haynes for his exceptional contributions to music, culture, and the City of Pittsburgh; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, November 24th, 2025, to be “D.J. Afterthought Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
